Hello! My name is Louise I am a Dental Therapist here at Oak Tree Dental.
What is a dental therapist? You may ask; I provide an extra pair of hands for dentists where I can carry out hygiene work, tooth whitening and restorative work such as fillings on adults and children as well as other paediatric treatments.
Whilst at university I thoroughly enjoyed attending various clinics where I treated patients with severe periodontal disease, paediatric treatments such as placing pre-formed metal crowns, fillings and placing fissure sealants in addition to treating young children with medical conditions. I saw young babies & toddlers who attended cleft lip/palate clinics where I provided treatment and gave advice to parents pre and post-surgery. Since graduating and in continuing my professional development (CPD) I signed up to NES Dental Therapist Development course that allows me to further my knowledge in various topics such as periodontal disease, anxiety management and carry out hands-on restorative skills at the Glasgow Dental Hospital as well as other relevant courses that keeps me up to date with the latest gold standard treatments and maintain full compliance with all dental guidelines and legislation.
I enjoy all aspects of my scope of practice, I love educating patients in their periodontal health and supporting them through their treatment journey back to gingival health or stabilising their periodontal disease. Tooth whitening has also become a new favourite treatment of mine, it is so rewarding giving patient’s confidence to smile again using Oak Tree’s in surgery tooth whitening equipment.
In my free time away from my work I enjoy hitting golf balls at the golf range or going to the new Top Golf, reading, attending spin classes at the gym, spending time with friends and family, having afternoon teas and travelling down to London to see loved ones.
